Nodibinajums Baltic Studies Centre BSC

 Baltic Studies Centre (BSC) is a non-profit research organisation in the field of social sciences and the leading social sciences institute in Latvia in the attraction of EU funding. Since establishment in 1991 BSC has carried out 19 EU projects. The areas of BSC expertise include:

  • rural sociology
  • food system and food supply chain analysis
  • food security
  • agricultural knowledge and innovation systems
  • agricultural and rural development policies

BSC undertakes action oriented research strategies and cooperates with producers’ organisations, policy makers, municipalities, SMEs, and other research and advisory organisations nationally and internationally. This helps to focus research on the needs of practitioners and support practical innovations. BSC employs five researchers and has the necessary capacity to ensure high quality research, dissemination and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
