Ruralis

The Ruralis is a social research centre that focuses on rural issues both within Norway and in a wider regional and global context. The main objective of Ruralis is to provide high quality research-based advice on a wide range of rural issues within the green and blue sectors. Ruralis has a staff of 28 researchers with backgrounds in sociology, geography, history, business economics, social anthropology, political science, agronomy and fisheries. Ruralis works closely with a number of stakeholder groups in Norway and has a Board consisting of representatives from the Norwegian Farmers Union, Norwegian Farmers and Smallholders Union, and Norwegian Agricultural Cooperatives amongst other groups. Funding mainly comes from the Norwegian Research Council, however, the organisation is currently also partners in three EU H2020 projects on agriculture.
